OMIGOSH

I abandoned my blog for the past month! That is because I have been crazy knitting lots of these:
And even more of these:

Due to a feature on Crappy Pictures, which you have to go read. If you're a parent, ever been a parent, thinking of being a parent, you will totally enjoy. GO!

The journey begins....

Happy Holidays!

I've been crazy busy.

I lost my job on November 3rd, one day before my birthday.

Then all HECK (not the word I'd like to use) broke loose!

I've been knitting 15 hours/day since then. Packaging tons and tons of typewriter key jewelry sales.

Two BIG craft fairs. Huge successes, both. Tons of work and tons of fun.

Had a sale on Belle Chic.

To be honest - I don't know how in the world I would have handled my websites, craft fairs, AND my corporate executive job - which also would have required me to travel to Cincinnati for a week the Monday after Thanksgiving.

So....maybe it was a good thing they laid me off? Time will tell....I am still very very stressed about it all. About the future. Long term financial stability...security....
I wake up at 430AM most days....heart pounding....
What will I do? I'll save those thoughts for another post...

Sometimes my customers have such great ideas. I had a request for a custom order - a college student (who just happens to be attending school in my hometown - and who is from not far where we live now...weird??) wanted a teddy bear for her boyfriend. She and her boyfriend are big Aladdin fans. She wanted the Teddy to look like Aladdin....

How did I do??

Craft Fair Booths

I just finished a 3 day event - the Tucson Museum of Art Spring Artisan Fair. Beautiful weather, friendly people, wonderful artists. I love doing fairs, as it gets me out in the public, and I have fun!

However, it is with a very critical eye that I examined my booth this past weekend. I am NOT satisfied. Although acceptable, it doesn't POP, it doesn't really draw people in. I have both of my product lines displayed - Woolies on one side - and that side has color and life to it. I have a few ideas for better displays for Woolies, but on the whole, it's ok.

It's the OTHER side that is pathetic. I sell typewriter key jewelry. Mostly pendants. The keys (pendants) are displayed in a jewelry display. The customer must bend over to examine them. I do have a 1937 Royal Typewriter on display, that draws LOTS of attention. Lots of ohs and ahs. But then they have to bend over to look. WRONG. So I'm going to take away the small table, and replace it with a typewriter stand, if I can find one. All the pendants will be already hung on chains (see, I give the customer a choice of chain, which is why I haven't done this before). So an entire wall of my booth will be typewriter pendants. As well as the other pendants (harmonica, glass pendants, skeleton keys, etc). Each area will have a sign above it, with price clearly marked.

The other thing I'm going to do is have large signs made at Fast Signs. They will hang either from the front of my booth or from one of the sides - haven't decided. And, with that in mind, I think it's time for a name change.

Buster and boo = cute for Etsy. But in the bigger world, this name doesn't describe one iota of what is available for sale. When I launch my website, I want to be able to give the world some clues as to what I offer for sale in my shop.

Which ones do you like? Can you think of more??

Bygone Keys

Keys from the Heart

Antique Key Jewelry

Nostalgia Key Jewelry

Days Gone By Jewelry

Keys and Antiques

Please let me know if you like any of my name ideas, or if you can think of more! Thanks!

Now some pics of my booth for you to LAUGH At! Ugh.

Monkey Business

I knitted a monkey for a dear friend who recently turned 3 years old.

Her Mommy recorded the most adorable video! You can see it HERE.

And then more monkey adorableness.......

I love to knit monkeys, there is something so special about their faces. :)

Creating an ad

What do you think? Should I change the color of my shop name? Should I make my name bigger? Do you like the layout of 4 pictures? Should I use different pictures? Of course, the ad will link to my shop Woolies. I need a collaborator.

Thanks!

What are you thankful for today?

My list is very lengthy -

My husband, my kids, my animals, my home, the beauty of the world around me, the cool air on my face this morning, the bat that flew by me when I took my dogs out in the still-almost-dark.

I'm thankful I have a job, and enough $$ to live. I'm thankful that I also get to create beautiful things. I'm thankful for my support - my friends - the Natural Kids Team.

They keep me going.

Thank you to my Natty Sisters!

Happy Thanksgiving!

What is your favorite animal?

Do you like zoo animals?

Is the giraffe your favorite? (It's my sister-in-law's favorite)

Or maybe wild donkeys?
Perhaps the rhinocerous?

Or maybe the king of the beasts?

We took this pics in San Diego, at the Wild Animal Safari Park.

It gave me lots of ideas for what I want to knit. Keep an eye on Woolies. You never know what might appear.
