Creative Friday

For those of you that knit, you know that knitting things takes a long time. Each of my Woolies takes hours of knitting. Which is OK, cause I love to. It's a wonderful rhythym - knitting - and I love the process and watching the new creation become 'alive'.

But, I'm also in the need for something that might take a bit less time to knit. Which also makes them more affordable.

What do you think of my new Wee Woolies? Lots more color choices will be in the shop soon....as well as little boy Wee Woolies. :)

Animals on the Move!

One of the reasons that my Woolies shop is rather empty this holiday season, is because I have been working like a crazy person on wholesale orders.

These bunnies are on their way to Tree Hollow Toys.

And these guys are just finished, hot off the presses (sort of), on their way to Mildred and Dildred. A brick and mortar store in Tucson, at the La Encatada shopping center. Very upscale, and beautiful. Pricey. So I am hoping that they sell like crazy there; wouldn't that be wonderful??

They really are so much fun to make. Each one has their own personality.

If you ever see something that YOU might want, please just contact me, leave me a note here - I'd be happy to recreate that Woolie animal!!!

Knitting TWENTY of them!

I am awash in white teddy body parts! This teddy will be headed to New York - with all of his/her relatives. I can't yet reveal name/favorites/etc. Also, there will be a little tiny heart embroidered on his/her overalls.

This Teddy is based on a fuzzymitten pattern - but with many differences. He/she is rounder in body and head (the head is actually quite different), and the ears are different too - again, rounder.

The overalls are also different, as I tend to lose patience when I have to pick up stitches. Besides, I dropped my little crochet hook under the couch and haven't yet been able to retrieve it. Husband needs to move the couch for me, and we just haven't been in the room at the same time lately!!

When everything is ready, I promise to let you know where you can purchase this special teddy.

Woolies!

Just had to share this collection of Woolies animals - they are on their way to Tree Hollow Toys, a wonderful site for natural toys. Look at them all!!! They're very excited to be getting ready to travel!

The lambies have their blankies, and Edward the mouse has his maroon sleeveless-sweatshirt, which he thinks is MUCH cooler than the overalls.

Wave bye-bye!

By the way, I love to do custom orders, so if you ever see an animal on the pages here that you just must have, please contact me, either here or through my Etsy shop, Woolies.

New Woolies Sheepie

There is a wonderful knitting designer called fuzzymitten. She gave me permission to sell stuffed animals made from her patterns, long ago. Which is awesome, cause her patterns are the best. She just came out with a new one, that is just too adorable. Meet Annabelle! She's available in my shop. (just had to share)

Wholesale!!

It's been my goal to do wholesale work. It's a way to expand my business - to reach WAY outside of the Etsy world. My work has been accepted at an online Waldorf-type shop, and I am SO EXCITED!!!!

Here is what I've finished so far:
2 ponies and 3 acorns...!! More to come!

YAY!!!

Beatrice

Ya know, I have this thing for handspun yarns. Mohair (from angora goats - see baby pictures in previous posts), llama, alpaca, all kinds of wool. There is something about the textures, the smell, the feel. Sometimes my hands get softer when working with handspuns, because of the natural lanolin that is in it. Once, I needed black mohair for a project, and went to a commercial yarn shop. The mohair was horrible - it FELT chemically treated - which I am sure it was. yuck.
So I have found quite a few shops on Etsy that spin their own, from their own animals. It is the best. Maple Smith, from northstaralpacas, has some of the best yarn I've ever
encountered. I found some that I think she sent to me,
as a thank you, with an order.
This yarn is a blend of alpaca and wool. It is heathered -
she must have plied a bit of purple, and a touch of blue, in there.
I had 94 yards of it, exactly enough to make Beatrice. I
f you could only feel her!!!!! Thank you Maple!!!
