An Interview, AND a Giveaway!!!

If you are a reader of my blog, you'll know that I love finding new shops. Etsy is a treasure-trove of undiscovered glory - here's one for you to discover! The shop name is ARTLIFE!

A little bit of an interview - the person behind the artist - I'd like to introduce you to Ellen!:

Do you have a day job besides your Artlife shop on Etsy?

Yes. My goal is to be one of the "I quit my day job" folks but for now I work part-time at an up-scale grocery store. I feel very lucky to at least have a few days off a week which I can solely devote to my Etsy shop and moving toward that goal.

Do you have any kids?No, I love kids but I've never wanted any of my own.

Do you blog?Yes. My blog is http://mysillyartlife.blogspot.com/

Do you have any animals?Not at the moment. I've had cats in the past and would love to get another someday. Cats are the coolest!

What tips can you give to someone just starting out on etsy?I think the biggest thing is to think positive thoughts and try not to get discouraged. Even when sales are not coming in, you can always be doing something to move your business forward and every little step counts towards the big picture. Also, if you get some momentum going with your shop DON'T stop! I have made the mistake in the past of working on my shop in fits and starts and in hindsight I now realize I lost hard won momentum when I ignored my shop.

Any last thoughts?Hmmm, Right now I'm really into giveaways and gifting my cards!

Dolly Giveaway!

One of my favorite things in the whole world is dolls. I love dollies of all kinds, shapes, sizes. I think this might be because I was a terrible tomboy when I was a child, and didn't play with dolls very much. It also might be because I have 2 boys (now teenagers), and they never wanted to play with dolls, so my doll-playing has been very limited. Now that I'm OLD, all I want is dolls.



Here's one that is so gentle and sweet....


This Wee Jersey Girl is made from a super-soft newborn onesie upcycled into a doll. She is stuffed with clean wool and has a very plain face--in fact, she has no facial features at all. She's a perfect toy for a newborn as a baby gift, for a one-year-old as a birthday gift, or to stick into a new kindergartner's backpack as a lovely during rest time. She is about 8" tall (not counting her floppy hat).
And she could be YOURS!
