Growing

Spring comes early to the desert. We planted a small veggie garden - in pots - in our little courtyard. The courtyard gets lots of shade, which is really important when the heat climbs to 110 degrees. This weekend, it is supposed to be in the 90's.

Then, as I do every year, I buried a pumpkin in the ground. Last year, it was growing beautifully in a very sunny spot. Then - one sad day - it was burning hot out and that was the end. The vine just died. So, trying again, in a different, shady, spot.
But, hopefully! the best treat yet - LEMON TREE! We've left it in the pot for now. Want it to grow nice and strong before we stick it in this dirt. The flowers smell delicious! Here's hoping!

What are you growing this year?

I hope your lemon tree grows..I love lemon trees! I live in a veeery different climate than you :) Here in northern Canada, there is still a couple feet of snow on the ground. We can usually do our planting around May long weekend. I plan on doing tomatoes and cucumbers in a green house. Then outside, we have to plant heartier plants. I'll be doing lots of peas, carrots, beans and potatoes. I'm trying to grow as many of our veggies for winter as I can :)
In your pics, it looks sooo hot there already!

I won't put in my veggie garden until mid April, but right now the lilacs I planted last year are blooming and herbs and perennials are going strong.I hope your lemon tree thrives!

Lemon trees sound fantastic! We've already had to throw out two palates of plants due to fungal flies:( Hope your plants do wonderfully!

Trying potatoes in sacks this year. Just waiting for the British weather to behave itself before I start!. Sincerely hope your lemon tree thrives.
