An Interview, AND a Giveaway!!!

If you are a reader of my blog, you'll know that I love finding new shops. Etsy is a treasure-trove of undiscovered glory - here's one for you to discover! The shop name is ARTLIFE!

A little bit of an interview - the person behind the artist - I'd like to introduce you to Ellen!:

Do you have a day job besides your Artlife shop on Etsy?

Yes. My goal is to be one of the "I quit my day job" folks but for now I work part-time at an up-scale grocery store. I feel very lucky to at least have a few days off a week which I can solely devote to my Etsy shop and moving toward that goal.

Do you have any kids? No, I love kids but I've never wanted any of my own.

Do you blog?Yes. My blog is http://mysillyartlife.blogspot.com/

Do you have any animals? Not at the moment. I've had cats in the past and would love to get another someday. Cats are the coolest!

What tips can you give to someone just starting out on etsy?I think the biggest thing is to think positive thoughts and try not to get discouraged. Even when sales are not coming in, you can always be doing something to move your business forward and every little step counts towards the big picture. Also, if you get some momentum going with your shop DON'T stop! I have made the mistake in the past of working on my shop in fits and starts and in hindsight I now realize I lost hard won momentum when I ignored my shop.

Any last thoughts?Hmmm, Right now I'm really into giveaways and gifting my cards!

And with that in mind here is this weeks giveaway from Artlife -

First of all - what are you trying to win?? YOUR CHOICE of a notecard set.

The Rules::::

Head on over to Artlife.

Come on back here and leave a comment with your favorite notecard set from her shop.

You MUST leave a way for me to reach you.

EXTRA Entries: Stop by Buster and boo or Woolies (my shops) and leave a comment with your favorite item. I WILL count the extra entries!

Contest ends one week on Saturday, February 28th - last day of February!

Thanks so much & good luck!

Tummy Mountain Giveaway!

Once again, the Etsy front page has shown me a wonderful artist! Check out TUMMY MOUNTAIN!!!

I fell instantly in love with Lloyd's little people and animals. So, being the incredibly bold person that I am, I asked him if he would be willing to do a giveaway on my little blog. He said YES!
Here is a description of the print, in the artist's words:

dances with rabbits

This is a print of my original painting.

The image is 5½ ”x 3½” (14cm x 9cm) and the paper is 8½” x 5½” (21.5cm x 14cm) which leaves a nice white border for framing.

Printed on the finest quality acid free archival Hahnemuhle 310gsm matte paper; a nice thick paper with texture alike to the original watercolour paper.

The ink is archival and guaranteed not to fade for over 75 years.

The print is signed, titled and dated under the image.

The picture will be sent in a plastic/cello sleeve in a rigid mailer that will not bend.

All of my images are copyright. Images are not to be reproduced without permission. So, you can WIN this beautiful wonderful adorable print.

1. Go to Tummy Mountain's shop.

2. Come back to my blog, and leave a comment with your favorite item from his shop.

Found on Etsy

I love primitive art. I have an original done a long time ago,
bought a long time ago, it is one of my most favorite
possessions. Today I found a primitive style artist
on Etsy. His name is Walt Curlee. You can visit his
shop here. His work is amazing, and speaks for
itself, so I will just let you enjoy.

Artist!

I love 'discovering' new artists on Etsy. I'm not sure how I found hide n seek, but here she is. I pretty much want everything in her shop. She offers buttons, stationary, stickers and of course prints.
Her characters, themes, style - all just grab me.

This one is called "He says he can hear the forest whisper"

This one is "Mom, this is the friend I told you about" and the last one is "Dad, this is the friend I told you about".

WOW

Carla Sonheim

As you know, Etsy is filled with wonderful artists. I mean, the kind that can draw or paint. I can't. Not really, anyway. Although I kind of like to. But I have zero faith in my abilities. Anyway, one of my favorites is Carla Sonheim. She does these wonderful whimsical scenes, like this one:

AND she has this wonderful opportunity in her Etsy shop, to purchase transfers of her work. So I did. And I sewed it with embroidery thread onto the back of a felted clutch, in orange.

Check it out! What do you think?

More Natural Kids

The work done by the members of the Etsy team,

Natural Kids, continually amazes me.

You have to check out this shop: haddy2dogs.

She is an artist - just LOOK at her work.

Her sculptures are incredible. The detail ... they are

needle felted - which is a process where you take little

needles with barbs, and poke it over and over again into

wool roving (wool before it is spun into yarn). I have one in my

shop - but wouldn't even dream of attempting anything like

haddy does. This is true soft sculpture, all natural, amazing.
Check out her shop!
