Creatures from the west

There's a lizard living in my little courtyard. There's lots of lizards here, it is the southwest. But it always gives me a little thrill to see these critters.

I'm not sure what kind he is, if anybody knows,
let me know! Is he a desert iguana? He's big -
over 12 inches, is my guess.
Can you see him??

Hi Woolies! Yes, there are such things as Desert Iguanas! Dipsosaurus dorsalis is common in your area :) We used to see these when we lived in Ajo. Dave was the manager of the Cabeza Prieta NWR back in the mid '80s, so we got see a lot of interesting critters up close and personal :)

WOAH! That is a big one! Here in Upstate NY we have tiny salamanders. Not quite that impressive! :)

We used to have cute little Blue bellied lizards when I lived in southern Oregon. There were also alligator lizards. Does he have teeth? He might be a kind of alligator lizard.

He's gorgeous! I love that wall behind the tree as well :) You can't find texture like that around here!
